Labuan Bajo, May 17, 2026 — Gereja Santa Theresia dari Kanak-kanak Yesus Merombok officially launched its parish website and social media platforms on Sunday (17/5/2026) in conjunction with the celebration of the 60th World Communications Day. The launch marks an important step in strengthening the Church’s digital pastoral services within the Diocese of Labuan Bajo.
The launching ceremony was led directly by Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Antonius Sanor together with Parish Pastoral Council Chairman Willy Cungkuru through a symbolic LED screen activation and countdown moment, warmly welcomed by parishioners following the Sunday Eucharistic celebration.
The official parish website is now accessible at gerejakatolikmerombok.org.
In his remarks, Rev. Fr. Antonius Sanor emphasized that the presence of the Church’s digital media platforms reflects the Church’s commitment to responding to the signs of the times and to the message of World Communications Day delivered by Pope Leo XIV.
“Through digital media, we are called to present the compassionate face of Christ and bring hope to all people. Therefore, let us continue supporting the Church’s communication ministry so that digital media may truly become a means of evangelization and fraternity,” said Rev. Fr. Antonius Sanor.
He also encouraged parishioners to actively utilize the parish’s official website and social media platforms as channels for accessing Church information and supporting more open and accessible pastoral services.
“Through this website and social media, parishioners can follow parish activities, regional communities, and small Christian community events. In the future, parishioners will also be able to access administrative services and sacramental registrations online,” he added.
The development of the parish website was carried out through collaboration between the Parish Communications Commission (Komsos) team and Lingkotech as the digital platform developer.
Founder of Lingkotech, Engel Vione, stated that the website project was not merely about building a technology platform, but also about supporting the Church’s pastoral transformation in the digital era.
“We believe technology can become a tool of service that strengthens communication, connection, and pastoral outreach among the faithful. The launch of this official parish website demonstrates that the Church is capable of adapting to digital developments while preserving its pastoral and human values,” he said.
According to him, the launch of the website during World Communications Day carries significant meaning as it reflects the Church’s commitment to using technology positively and responsibly.
The website of Gereja Santa Theresia dari Kanak-kanak Yesus Merombok (Saint Theresia of the Child Jesus Parish Merombok) was designed as an interactive and informative digital pastoral platform. In addition to providing parish activity information, the website also offers various online pastoral service features, including:
- the sacrament of baptism registrations
- the sacrament of first communion registration
- the sacrament of confirmation registration
- the sacrament of marriage registration
- Marriage Preparation Course (KPP) registration
- daily and weekly reflections
- parish announcements
- Church event publications
The platform was also developed with a mobile-friendly interface to ensure easy access through smartphones and other digital devices.
As a technology and creative company based in Flores, Lingkotech believes that digital transformation is not only important for businesses and tourism sectors, but also for social and religious institutions.
“We hope this digital platform can help the Church become even closer to the faithful, especially younger generations who live amid rapid technological and social media developments. The digitalization of the Church is not intended to replace direct pastoral encounters, but to expand the reach of communication and pastoral services,” explained Engel.
Going forward, the parish’s website and official social media platforms will continue to be developed according to the needs of the faithful and the future direction of digital-based Church ministry.
