Labuan Bajo, October 21, 2025 — On Tuesday (October 21), Lingkotech Founder Engel Vione participated in a discussion titled “Integrated Tourism Loyalty Management System with Cross-Sector Collaboration and Gamification,” initiated by Pelita Harapan University (UPH) and held at the Labuan Bajo Flores Tourism Authority (LBFTA).
This activity brought together various parties from government, academia, and the tourism industry, such as the Bajo Talk Podcast, the Indonesian Tour Guide Association (HPI), ASITA West Manggarai, and representatives from BPOLBF itself.
Triple Helix Collaboration for Sustainable Tourism
In her presentation, Prof. Dr. Diena Mutiara Lemy, A.PAR., M.M., CHE, Dean of the UPH Faculty of Tourism, explained that this research aims to develop an adaptive gamification-based tourism loyalty management system. Through a triple helix approach, this collaboration involves three main pillars: academia, government, and industry.
“Gamification is an engaging way to increase tourist engagement. With elements like points, challenges, and rewards, tourists can more actively interact with the destination, support local MSMEs, and contribute to environmental protection,” said Prof. Diena.
Support from LBFTA: Building a Data-Driven and Innovation-Based Ecosystem
Meanwhile, Acting. BPOLBF President Director, Dwi Marhen Yono, expressed his support for this initiative. He believes Labuan Bajo has great potential as a living laboratory for the development of an inclusive and sustainable digital tourism system.
“LBFTA encourages cross-sector collaboration to build a data- and innovation-driven tourism ecosystem. Through this approach, we can create more meaningful tourism experiences for all parties,” explained Marhen.
Loyalty Built from Positive Experiences and Impressions
As a creative industry player and founder of Lingkotech, a digital company specializing in website development services in Labuan Bajo, Engel Vione shared insights from the technology industry and his experience collaborating with tourism stakeholders.
“Tourist loyalty isn’t built solely through promotions, but through the positive experiences they have,” Engel explained.
“When tourists feel happy, appreciated, and able to interact with local culture, they will return.”
Engel also proposed a points and rewards program that could be implemented in a tourism loyalty system. For example, tourists can earn points when purchasing souvenirs from MSME partners, attending cultural events, or participating in local activities. These points can be exchanged for discounts, unique souvenirs, or exclusive experiences like cultural tours.
This concept not only strengthens the relationship between tourists and the destination but also encourages the participation of local communities—from artisans and tour guides to Komodo travel operators and MSMEs.
Labuan Bajo: An Experimental Space for Digital Innovation
This discussion emphasized that Labuan Bajo is not only a world-class tourist destination but also an experimental space for digital innovation in the tourism sector.
Through a gamification approach, cross-sector collaboration, and the use of local technology, such as that developed by Lingkotech, the future of Flores tourism can be built in a more participatory, adaptive, and sustainable manner.
